COALA's PADDEL project wins national support for innovative health-environment research
The COALA network is proud to announce that the PADDEL project is one of four winners of the 4th edition of the "Data in Health-Environment for Research and Innovation" call for projects, led by Green Data for Health (GD4H) and the French Health Data Hub (PDS).
PADDEL (led by Toulouse University Hospital, on behalf of the COALA network) is an exploratory health-environment study aiming to combine large cohorts of lung cancer patients — molecularly characterized and geolocated — with environmental data on contamination of the air and water. The goal is to better understand the link between exposure to so-called emerging pollutants (pesticides, PFAS, endocrine disruptors) and the molecular alterations observed in these cancers.
This project brings together, around the COALA network, several leading partners: Institut Curie, IHU RespirERA, AP-HP (Cochin Hospital), Lille University Hospital, the College of Pulmonologists of General Hospitals, and ATMO Occitanie, a key partner for mobilizing air quality data.
This selection illustrates the COALA network's capacity to bring together clinical, molecular, and environmental expertise around major translational research challenges. It also reflects national recognition of the network's ability to unite and federate partners around shared data for lung cancer research.
The PADDEL project will benefit from human, technical, and financial support from the GD4H and PDS teams to facilitate data mobilization and generate new knowledge for research, prevention, and public policy.
